I might be wrong but if I’m not mistake I’m pretty sure mirrors reflect infrared radiation just like light so I don’t think it would actually show his thermal image, I think it would just reflect whatever infrared was near it but not a clean thermal image of himself like you would pointing it directly at him but I’m not actually sure. I don’t have a thermal camera to check lol 🤓

While fishing off the California coast in 1983 out about 60-100 miles past Catalina Island I was up in the spotters tower and saw a huge shark. Easily 12-14 feet long (about half the length of the boat we were on). It was following the the boat. Turned out being a Great White. Flat out the biggest fish I ever saw, and not one I wanted to be in the water with. It eventually swam off. We had a good bit of fishing. Hooked a couple of nice Sailfish. Got a decent 7 footer on board and we ate good that night. I can see how rumors of a big shark getting started with a fish as big as the one we saw. Especially by people who really have never seen a big fish before. It's easy to make size judgement mistakes of fish in the water.
